Georgian Pardaghy (cover)

Rarely seen in the West this is a prime example of a Georgian Pardaghy. As a source I cite Wright, Richard. Wertime, John. Caucasian Carpets and Covers. They attribute these flatweaves to the Georgians and other unspecified Paleo-Caucasian peoples. They also show a very similar example in use in Tiflis in 1910 (above).

Georgian Pardaghy, Tiflis Province, Caucasus.

Sizes: 9 by 5 or 6 by 10 are typical

Structure: Slit tapestry weave.

. I was telling my dear friend Harold Keshishian about my find and it turns out he owns one of the two Pardaghys pictured in the Wright Wertime Book.
