- Phyllis Ackerman wife of Arthur
Upham Pope.
- Ackerman & Pope founded the American
Institute for Persian Art and Archaeology in 1925 which later became
the Asia Institute.
- In 1966 they moved the Asia Institute to The
Narenjestan Palace in Shiraz Iran at the invitation of
Mohammed Reza Shah The
Narenjestan (Palace Museum Shiraz).
- They are interred in a mausoleum in Professor Pope
Park on the banks of the Zayandeh-Rud River in Isfahan.
