Comments On Condition: There are a few small reweaves and very minor
losses at the lower end, with a few areas of localized wear. Both
selvages are intact and original. The elaborate braided warp at the top
is original. The weft is light red.
Full Description: A brilliantly colored carpet with excellent pile and
strong graphics. The dominant white octagon contains an archaic
"gremlin" in blue-green, surrounded by voluted arrowheads and kotchak
elements. Small areas of pale aubergine point to an early date. This is
possibly the largest, early example of this design group. |
