(2) Warp: Wool, Z2S, alternate warps moderately-strongly depressed, ivory Weft: Wool, 2 shoots, Z2S (loosely plied), red Pile: Wool, symmetrical knot Density: 11-12 horizontal, 14-15 vertical Sides: I cord of 3 warps overcast with red wool, then folded in half (to form bag) and double overcast in black and ivory goat hair forming diagonal stripe and loop at top Ends: Upper front-4 in. of various patterns and colors of Sumac stitches, center motif separated with slits, top weft-float weave folded under, upper back (kilim)- needlework on kilim of black/white goat hair, heavy braided cord of same sewn from inside to form 5 in. loops Colors: Front(pile)-deep indigo, madder red, ochre, teal, forest green, cornflower blue, pea pea1 green, ivory, tobacco, clove; back (kilim)-sienna red, light azure, tobacco, forest green, madder, pale auburn, ochre.
1. I am facinated by Sotheby's discriptive phases. I mention this because "pea pea green" is the way they have it and I do not care to guess just what it was that they had in mind.
