Bordjalu Kazak Rug
Central Caucasus, 19th century
Skinner Bolton, Oriental Rugs and Carpets
Lot 89
Sold for: $11,500
"an attractive Bordjalu Kazak (lot 89; 1),
with a narrow rectangular panel placed over the
familiar bold hooked design. The piece was
distinguished by somewhat more variety in the
field than is customary, with hooked medallions
and eight-pointed stars appearing within the
central panel, and by a well-executed border.
However, in many respects, it was just not
unusual enough, a fact which was reflected in the
final price of $11,500".
