| Back when I tried selling rugs these two rugs
passed through my hands. A well known
dealer/expert/author/lecturer identified these
rugs as Karagashli Kuba. The sticking point in my
mind was that he had a financial interest in the
rugs. Over the I have pondered these rugs and
I see less and less compelling reasons to call
them Karagashli. First of all I do not see
Karagashli rugs that look particularly like
these. But that is not a major point. Structure
is a major point however and it does not match
up. At about 75 knots per square inch that is
low.
Pete Stone
is one of the great knot counters and experts on
structure and he mentions averages of 113 KPSI
for Kuba rugs and that Karagashli Tuba rugs
average 144 KPSI. Oriental
