| "Yusuf
Gives a Royal Banquet in Honor of His
Marriage" from the Haft Awrang of Jami made
for Soltan Ibrahim Mirza, 1556 to 1565. Simpson
Haft Awrang Page 98 Folio 38b. I have over
a period of years been developing a weighted
source predictive analysis model of 16th century
Southwest Asian Art. Following that model this
image should be the work of the Persian Artist
Ali Ashgar father of Aqa Reza.
To take that one step further I suspect most
if not all of the Haft Awrang made for Soltan
Ibrahim Mirza was the product of three
artists named by Basil Grey in Persian
Painting; Ali Ashgar Abdollah and Shaykh Mahammad.
But alas to think and to know are not the same
thing so I intend to examine a wide range of
information over and extended period of time to
see if I can work this out to my own
satisfaction.
N. B. As I write this I remember once on
another theory of mine an insufferablely stuffy
woman at the Freer and Sackler told me, "You
have every right to think so, but please be aware
that no one else agrees". The conventional
wisdom is that this is by Shaykh Mahammad
but I ask you to look at the faces and the fine
detail work. It is very apparent that there are
three main artists in the Haft Awrang of Jami
