Margin drawings from folio
23a of The Divan of Sultan Ahmed Jalair, Baghdad?
1402. I put a question mark after Baghdad because
it is only a guess since I can not at the moment
say for sure where the court was in 1402. Sultan
Ahmed Jalair was the last of the Jalairid Mongol rulers of Irak, Kurdistan and
Azerbaïjan.
After the death of Abu Said
in 1335 the IL-Khanid Dynasty ended and the
Jalairid Mongol
ruled parts of the former IL-Khanid territory.
the Jalairid were Mongol
but not of the lineage of Cingis
Qan. However they
may also be counted as ethnically Turk and it is
known that they ruled over large parts of the
Oghuz Turk including the Qara-Qoyunlu.
