CATALOGUE NOTE
In 1920, a number of designers and weavers from
the Bezalel school opened an independent
commercial workshop in Jerusalem named Marvadia.
Until its closure in 1931, the workshop produced
carpets and rugs with Art Nouveau influences,
also re-interpreting well-known Oriental carpet
patterns and utilising the designs of ancient
mosaics with Judaic motifs that had been
excavated in the region at the beginning of the
20th century. \
