Lot Nr.: 177

Bezeichnung: TURKMENISCHER ASMALYK
Herkunftsland: Zentralasien, Mittleres Amu-Darya Tal,
Ende 19. Jh.
Abmessungen: ca. 61 x 51 cm
Schätzpreis in EUR: 12000 €

Title: TURKMENISCHER ASMALYK
Country of origin: Central Asia, Middle Amu-Darya Valley,
Late 19th Century
Dimensions: approximately 61 x 51 cm
Estimate in EUR: 12000 €

A very rare, seven sided Asmalyk with a Ikat style pattern. Housed in a U.S. exhibition catalogue published counterpart from the collection slot 1993, is attributed Ersari. Our copy differs in the structure, colors and also with regard to the pile of wool known to us, typical Ersari work, so that we might end up in the middle of origin Amu-Darya Valley, a region where, as in the area Veramin Many ethnic groups lived side by side, it was cross-influences and a distinction between tribes as difficult. We believe it is not inconceivable that our Asmalyk is related to the Uzbeks. -- Original accounts around, good condition.

I am not looking to buy or sell. I am reviewing this rug to place it in context and to use it as a teaching aid.
