JBOC's Notes on Oriental Rugs

Guide to Silk Heriz Rugs & Carpets

Heriz Silk Rugs

Heriz carpets tend to be coarse thick rugs with a heavy handle. One group attributed to Heriz is very much the opposite. The Heriz silk rugs tend to be fine. Finner as a group then the silk rugs attributed to Tabriz. The rugs also have a very soft handle.

There is some difference of opinion as to where these rugs are made. The market attributes them to Heriz but many knowledable people suggest a tabriz attribution.
