Warp Cotton white Z9 - Z11 (2Z) bundled
Weft Cotton pink, Z4, 3 shoots.
Knots Wool Z3, Asymmetrical V 45, H 50.
(approximately. 140 knots to the square inch.)
Conditions: No original edges. Left bottom
corner repiled, c.60 x 65 cm. Missing areas.

Author's Note:
I have not had a chance to examine this fragment and
am basing this on the structural notes on this carpet in
Oriental Carpets by Friedrich Spuhler.1.
I do not consider this rug to fit in with the group of High Ply Count Cotton Warps. They are
plied S strands into a Z cord, here we apparently have
multiple 2S Z cords bundled. This is a far more logical
way for a hand plyer to make a heavier cable when one is
needed.
