Dragon Rugs: Tuduc Dragon Carpet Tuduc, Theodor (1888-1983). A Romanian rug restorer and weaver of rug reproductions. Tuduc was born in Cluj, Transylvania and died in Bucharest. Much of his weaving was done in his workshop in Brasov between 1919 and 1945. His exact rug reproductions and creations were aged artificially and sold through intermediaries as authentic. Many of his reproductions were acquired and displayed by prominent museums.
A TADOUK (Tuduc) RUG, with a design of a classic Kuba, the indigo field with a central composite serrated medallion containing stylized birds and animals and flowerheads, surrounded by four similar medallions containing stylized trees, linked by a serrated ivory frame, in an ivory palmette, forked lily and leafy vine border 8ft. 4in. x 4ft. 8in. (253cm. x 142cm.)

I looked up Tuduc in Peter Stone's Oriental Rug Lexicon. With the author's permission I quote:

Tuduc, Theodor (1888-1983).

Tuduc's reproductions include white-ground Chintamani carpets, Transylvanian (Siebenburgen) carpets, a Lotto carpet, Spanish armorial carpets and a rug bearing the arms of Queen Elizabeth I of England. The name "Tuduc" has become synonymous with historical rug forgeries.
