Vase Carpet
A FINE AND EXTREMELY RARE 'VASE' CARPET, the
royal blue field with three overlaid floral
lattices comprising a wide variety of palmettes
and flowerheads and vases enclosing flowering
plants, in a burgundy border of arabesques,
tracery and flowering vine between golden yellow
and ivory vine stripes, Persia, 17th Century
(complete, with small and minor areas of old
repair) 17ft. 8in. x 6ft. 8in. (538cm. x 202cm.)

Ton-sur-ton Blue
The use of Ton-sur-ton blue in this floral
form shows marked similarities to Mughal, Ost
Persien, and Turanian carpets.
