Hamadan Rug

A Hamadan rug with festive colors. This rug should give years of service in your home.

1500 different villages in the Hamadan region produce 3000 distinct Hamadan rugs. This rug was woven in one of the villages in the Province of Hamadan but I am not sure which one.

How We Select Our Rugs

Hamadan Rug. Iran, 20th century. 2 foot 8 inches by 3 foot 8 inches.

Structure: Symmetrical knot. 9 knots per horizontal inch and 10 knots per vertical inch. 90 per square inch (1395 per square decimeter)

Yarn Spin: Z.

Warp: Cotton, white.

Weft: Cotton 1 shots. blue.

Pile: 2 Wool singles.

Ends: Warp fringe.

Selvages: 2 cotton overcast with brown wool.

Further Notes: Excellent Condition

Some rugs are rare and valuable, some rugs have gold or silk thread, but some rugs are useful rugs good for walking upon. This is one of those useful rugs.
