Kurdish Pile and Flatweave Salt Bag 1 foot 5 inches by 2 foot. This is a Kurdish Pile and Flatweave Salt Bag from Khorasan in Northwest Iran. It is an unusual salt bag of a type that I have never seen before. I showed this to one expert who was familiar with these and he was able to attribute this. Otherwise I would have guessed Baluch type. Color is difficult over the internet, please review the Direct Scan below for the best representation of color in this rug.

Kurdish Pile and Flatweave Salt Bag. Iran, 20th century. 1 foot 5 inches by 2 foot. (Note including Fringe) Structure: Asymmetrical knot open left, twining, weft substitution, and sumac. Yarn Spin: Z. Warp: Wool, white. Weft: wool ground color or brown. Pile: 2 Wool singles. Ends: Complete salt bag Selvages: plain. Further Notes: Excellent condition

Unusual Kurdish Pile and Flatweave Salt Bag This is the first pile and flatweave salt bag that I have seen. It is an attractive well made piece.
