With all my tribal rugs and war rugs and Afghans I have a secret love for rich, thick, formal, Persian rugs. I think it comes from growing up with really good Persian rugs. Besides being pretty there is the pleasure of walking on something that feels this nice. This Persian Kashan is in pristine condition and in every way seems brand new.

Ardistan is the home of what is historically a better grade of Kashan rugs. This rug is not as fine as some but is really a beautiful example. Ardistan is about 75 miles from the city of Kashan but the rugs are considered part of the Kashan type production.

How We Select Our Rugs

The Rug is rectangular it was just photographed at an angle.

Structure: Symmetrical knot. 11 knots per horizontal inch and 10 knots per vertical inch. 110 per square inch (1960 per square decimeter)

Yarn Spin: Z.

Warp: Cotton, white.

Weft: Cotton 2 shot. blue.

Pile: 2 Wool singles.

Ends: warp fringe.

Selvages: 2 cotton overcast with white wool.

Further Notes: Thick meaty handle, very substantial rug in As new condition. No holes, tears, rips or low spots. Long pile.

Attractive thick Persian rug with great color.

This rug is a thick plush beautiful rug in pristine condition. No flaws or problems that I can see.
