Hussainabad Rug

Hussainabad rugs are some of the better village rugs from the Hamadan region. Hussainabad rugs are well made and durable and this one has a higher knot count than average, This knot count is 3 times higher than many Hussainabad rugs and rivals the Enjilas in quality.

Hussainabad is south of the city of Hamadan close to Malayir. Almost out of the Hamadan region.

How We Select Our Rugs

The Rug is rectangular it was just held crooked.





Hussainabad Iran, 20th century. 3 foot 5 inch by 4 foot 11 inch.

Structure: Symmetrical knot. 12 knots per horizontal inch and 11 knots per vertical inch. 130 per square inch (2015 per square decimeter)

Yarn Spin: Z.

Warp: Cotton, white.

Weft: Cotton 1 shot. pink.

Pile: 2 Wool singles.

Ends: warp fringe.

Selvages: 2 cotton overcast with red wool.

Further Notes: Thick meaty handle, long pile (1/2 inch deep).

The style is traditional to Hussainabad rugs but the knot count is much higher than average. (130 per square inch)
