Very attractive thick pile rug new Persian Kurdish Rug. Nice colors, great pink none of the neon colors used in the post embargo rugs. This is an extremely well made tribal rug from the Kolyai tribe which is one of the principle Kurdish tribes and certainly a major Kurdish rug producing tribe

How We Select Our Rugs

The Rug is rectangular it was just held crooked.

Structure: Symmetrical knot. 10 knots per horizontal inch and 13 knots per vertical inch. 130 per square inch (2015 per square decimeter)

Yarn Spin: Z.

Warp: 3 ply Cotton, white.

Weft: Cotton 1 shot. pink. Hamadan weave.

Pile: 2 Wool singles.

Ends: warp fringe.

Selvages: 2 cotton overcast with pink wool.

Further Notes: Thick meaty handle, very substantial rug in As new condition. No holes, tears, rips or low spots. Very long pile.

I bought two of these rugs that were about the same size and similar pattern. When I bought them I thought they were a pair but the more I looked the more I saw how different they were. Often times one village will produce one principle style of rug.
