JBOC Notes: I was struck by this mafrash as I looked at it again. The color is superb, the structure is less common (weft-float brocade) it dates to the second half 19th century and it is an intact mafrash. All these things make it very special.

Full Description: Bold and colorful, this complete mafrash (3'1" x 1'6" x 1'4") represents the best of the Karabagh tradition aesthetically. It is published as plate xxv in Wright & Wertime, Caucasian Carpets and Covers (p.113). Bags like this make wonderful bench or table covers.
