It is not unusual for me to stray from the conventional wisdom. I suspect that Duust-Moháammad was a teacher of the artist Abdollah in Kabul and that the Hamza-nama was started earlier than current scholarship believes. At some point I may rough out my notes on why I think so. Islamic miniatures are a bother because no one really seems to care about them at all and writing in a vacuum is dissatisfying. When I write about Oriental rugs I get reader feedback. On Islamic miniatures outside of Cary Welch there has not been one bit of discussion ever.
