He had been a Professor at Abd al-Aziz University
in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia where Usama Bin Laden was
one of his students.
Abdullah Azam was the Moslem
Brotherhood leader in Peshawar. He was very
close with Osama Bin
Laden and Mujaheddin leader Gulbuddin
Hekmatyar. He was assassinated (bomb) in
Peshawar in 1989 with his two sons.
Something bothers me about Azam. Bin Laden stayed in
line with US/Saudi policy until about the time of
Azam's death. I am curious as to who killed Azam
and why?
In the year since I wrote thart I have pondered
the death of Abdullah Azzam. Now I have come
accross some new clues. UBL and Azzasm split in
about 1988. Azzam was not Wahabi UBL was. UBL was
seaking to control the Pakistan/Afghanistan
efforts of the MAK (Maktab
al-Khidimat). I am forced to conclude that
Azzam was murdered by Usama
Bin Laden. I believe that Azzam resisted Usama Bin Laden's
efforts to take over the al Ikwan al Muslimoon or
Moslem
Brotherhood. With the protection of the
Saudis and the USA UBL
was able to murder Azzam and take over the Moslem
Brotherhood operation in Pakistan.
