A Lambalo Kazak rug ca. 1900

Of all the Bordjalou rugs those of Lambalo are the furthest Northeast of the Gardabani district. The area is due north of the Akstafa district of Azerbaijan. Lambalo is just east of the Karachov area weaving center of Muganlu.

Warp: Wool, Z3S, ivory

Weft: Wool, Z2S, 2-5 shoots, red

Pile: Wool, symmetrical knot

Density: 7-8 horizontal, 7-8 vertical

Sides: Wool, 2 cords of 2 warps each, overcast red

Ends: Upper - 1/2 in. red kelim folded over

Lower - 1 in. red kelim then warp loops

Colors: Cranberry, pomegranate, deep madder red, teal blue, ivory, light to deep cornflower blue, peach, lapis, midnight blue, walnut
