19th c. Lori Pambak Kazak rug
Caucasus. Piles, small worn areas, corroded browns. Size 249 x 167 cm
On a red background art-typical ornamentation; Octopon with a majestic Lori-Pampak motif in a beautifully abrusted blue-green. On the longitudinal axis, flanked by hooked octogons, with set star-shaped squares. By deliberately restricting to a few filling motifs the powerful effect is skillfully increased. White main border with peculiar triangles or hand motifs and jagged star shapes in an early representation. Blue base off-white and yellow-brown zigzag inside hem. Equally thin, the age corresponding to good overall condition.
