DESCRIPTION
Portrait of a courtier holding a rosary and a
staff, Mughal, early 17th century. gouache with
gold on paper, extended at upper and left edges,
laid down on an album page with borders of floral
and foliate scrolls in colours and gold on pink
and blue grounds, outer border of stout cream
paper, framed
miniature 15.4 by 9.2 cm.

Formerly in the collection of E. Kofler-Truniger
Esq. Sold in these rooms, 13th July 1971, lot
135.
This portrait can be compared with those in an
album made for Shah Jahan during his princehood,
sold in these rooms, 15th June 1959, lot 118. |
