A Melas Prayer Rug, West Anatolia, 19th C.

Size 159 x 112 cm

Description Attractive rug with a yellow Mihrab with two tree ornaments and carnation blossoms. The main border is derivative of reciprocal borders from the 16th century. The outer border is unusual as well but appears from a tribal origin. Minor repairs and corroded browns.

Estimate 4900. DM
