Turkmen Clothes and Weapons Circa 1600

The Turkmen Prisoner- 1590 - 1600 Signed by Farrukh Beg. 1.

Here we have a Turkmen warrior that was drawn from a living model by one of the great artists of the day. As you can see from the weapons in the museum picture below the picture is extremely accurate. We can assume that the rest of the picture is just as accurate.

Ethnography

Here we see very similar Turkmen weapons from the collection of The National Museum of Turkmenistan.

La Miniature En Orient Plate 64: The Officer's Portrait

Circa 1600 Uzbek and Turkmen wore very similar in weapons and some articles of clothing. They both usually wear riding boots and Tunics but the headgear is very different.
Detail - The sleep of Rustam, by Sultan Muhammad, Tabriz circa 1520.

This is a beautifully executed but rather typical portrayal of Rustam. He is normally show in tiger stripes with a big cat head headdress. This miniature is especially interesting because of the Jajim that Rustam is sleeping on.

Please note the Turkmen boot that Rustam is wearing. In 15th and 16th century art Turkmen boots have a heel and Persians wore flats.
