Dear Mr. OConnell
We have just accessed your website and was interested to
see that there is no mention of our move from Woolley and
Walliss Salisbury Salerooms to Netherhampton
Salerooms, Salisbury . The carpet department at Woolley
and Wallis was closed in February 2004 and Ian Bennett
and I immediately relocated to a new, young saleroom just
three miles south west of Salisbury City Centre (and
Woolley and Wallis).
We hold five sales each year, of anywhere
between 400-600 lots in each, and our first sale for our
new employers was held on 29th April 2004 .
This email is in some haste as we are
frantically trying to get the next catalogue to our
printers for the next sale, as above, but our catalogues
can be accessed, about two weeks before each sale, on the
antiques trade gazette website:
www.antiquestradegazette.com/netherhampton
. You do have to register, but this does not cost you
anything. Also we have our own website, and the catalogue
will also be on this in due course: www.salisburyauctioncentre.co.uk
and this is easy to navigate around. Click on catalogues,
I think, to view the catalogue. It is a two day sale with
the furniture, silver and decorative items being held on
the Wednesday (next one 26th July) and our carpets, rugs
and textiles on the Thursday (27th July).
All our details may be found on our
website, but if you have any questions, please do let me
know.
Kind regards
June Barrett

Bennett has done a great job with
this book. The part on classical carpets
is excellent. Bennett remains one of the
most important scholars in the field of
Classical Oriental Carpets. The book
gives a good general look at a wide range
of types of rugs. It is one of the only
books I have that covers Navaho rugs.

If you are interested in Caucasian
rugs buy this book. The color picture
quality is a little spotty but there are
many pictures and good commentary. This
book is extremly useful since it gives a
good picture of the rugs that passed
through a major auction house airly
revently. In it we can see rugs that
correspond to the rugs in the market
place today. Caucasian Rugs Bennett, Ian |
