The James C. Allen Azeri
Gendge Rug
|
I tend to think of James C. Allen as only one
of the truly great men of Turkmen
collecting and scholarship. Jim or JC as he is
sometime called is more than just a Turkmen
specialist. His knowledge and insight into the
range and breadth of oriental rugs is seldom
equaled Jim has been a guest of the
Turkmanbashii, the supreme ruler of Turkmenistan
where he delivered a paper to the "Symposium
on Cultural Affairs Concerning Classical
Culture" in Askhabad, Turkmenistan, in
October of 2000. Jim and his collection have been
featured in Ghereh
the Oriental Rug Magazine and Hali. He has also
been a speaker at Colorado Textile Group, ACOR,
and ICOC.

The Allen Late
18th Century Eagle Gull Torba
A Connoisseurs
take on 6 gull Torbas
Tomorrow; still
unfinished
Yesterday; as unfinished as today
Their endpoint's an indefinite asymptote
Where participants in super-structures
Languish qua-surreal for an eternity
Where the fastest pathway between two locations
Constantly shifts to the left and right in a
Revolving evolving alignment
Where the definition of quality sits in the openness of
time
Expressing its individuality against the constantly
Pounding surf of many obscene realities.
Has consciousness done any of you any good down there?
On the surface of electric dynamo's your spirits
Waft upward dreamy wisps of smoke
The next paradign shift's will propel you past surviving
Towards full participation in qualitative enhancement
Eternal emancipation; extending God's nourishment
