JBOC's Notes: The main iconography seems very familiar but I was not sure from where. At first I did not see anything very close in John Wertime's Sumak Bags of Northeast Persia and Transcaucasia. 1998. I suspected that this must be a Karabagh Shahsavan sumac. So I went back and reviewed borders in Wertime's Karabagh section and I spotted Sumak Bags plate 129. It has the same guard borders as the bottom white border in this piece. so on furthier reflection I realized that the main iconography reminds me of a Qarabagh Mafrash that Piralov published in his 1913 Kustar report see Sumak Bags ill. 30.
