Warp: wool, ivory to brown, Z2S
Weft: wool, ivory to brown, Z2S; 2 shoots
Pile: wool 2Z
Knot: symmetrical;
9 H x 14 V per in = 126 per sq.in
Colours: red brown, peach, dark blue, light blue, blue
green, ivory, dark brown, dull yellow
No original selvedges or end finishes.
A Yomut ensi on the
other hand, had fantastic colour. The weaver of this
small rug just
dazzles us with her sense of colour, making this one of
the most appealing examples of this
type known. Another fine and similarly coloured ensi,
formerly in the A. DeCredico Collection,
was exhibited at The Eighth International Conference on
Oriental Carpets (ICOC) in Philadelphia
(Oriental Rugs from Atlantic Collections, Philadelphia
1996, pl.196). But, in general, Yomut
ensis are a rather dreary lot."

Selvage and ends not original.
