where a fold was removed. The selvages have been
replaced.
Full Description: This
"Akstafa" type large rug is a riot of
glowing, spectacular color and displays a myriad
of motifs in the interstices between five,
beautifully balanced medallions. It is finely
woven with superbly executed drawing.

JBOC: Dennis is one of the most
knowledgeable people of whom I know. However I think this
is a Akstafa from the Kazak
area rather than a type of Shirvan. So while we both call
it an Akstafa we just
disagree on where Akstafa
rugs are made. Keep in mind Dennis is supported by most
people on this and my view is not (yet) gennerally
accepted.
