The Oriental
Carpet is an art form which I have explored for a
number of years. As I collected information I put
it into web form and then began to sort like with
like. First I split off Persian Rugs and Carpets
and then Turkmen Rugs. Baluch rugs followed
shortly afterwards. as the group of Persian Rugs
grew I began to divide by cities and regions. A
section for Sarouk Carpets and Heriz carpets then
on through Kashan, Kerman, Tabriz and so on. The
Turkmen section I divided by tribes at first.
Saryk, Tekke, Yomud and the rest. As I assembled
groups of information I would divide it. With the
Yomut tribe there are so many wonderful examples
that divided it into pages of Juvals or Mafrashs,
Carpets, Asmalyks and so on.
When will it ever
be finished? Soon or later I will get bored or
die. I thought I was dying but the Good Lord has
given me back my health. So for now I spend spare
moments here and there to build this site. Lots
of things are for sale on this site but not by
me. I do not sell rugs or books. This site is a
hobby and a source of relaxation. I get a bemused
sense of satisfaction that people read this site.
But really I do it because it beats the heck out
of watching TV.
