Salor Turkmen Main Carpet
Central Asia
19th Century
Langauer Textile Art, Vienna
"The only Salor main carpet at the Fair was this
distinguished example. It was acquired eighty years
before in Tehran, which was at that time a market centre
used for Turkmen carpets that started their westward
migrations from the Amu Darya region in eastern
Turkmenistan. Its classical design is perfectly executed
with large main güls and the small secondary güls found
on all but one of the Salor carpets generally
known."
