| J. Barry O'Connell Jr. Being
Honored by Ronald Reagan |

Ronald Wilson Reagan
This was me in a quieter and gentler time when
all we had to fear was Godless Communism and the
Liberals. The Young lady is a Coast Guard Officer
and she carried the codes for Nuclear War
popularly know as the football. We were in the
Blue Room and those of you who got Christmas
Cards From President Reagan that year will
remember the marble fireplace in the background.
This was special visit to honor some of us who
were helping further the cause of freedom by
aiding the brave freedom fighters in Nicaragua.
President Reagan remains one of my great heroes
and it will be years before we realize all the
good we accomplished under his leadership.
Odds and ends:
Poems that have touched me.
