Qashqai Rug,

A Qashqa’i Long Rug, Southwest Persia, circa 1900. Approximately 10 ft. 8 in. by 4 ft. 10 in. (3.25 m. by 1.48 m.)

Warp: Wool, Z2S, natural ivory (some natural ivory / goat hair twist)

Weft: Wool, Z2S, 2-5 shoots, light brown

Pile: Wool, asymmetrical knot open to the left

Density: 9 horizontal, 8 vertical

Sides: 1 cord of 11 warps, overcast with red and green

Ends: Upper - red and green embroidered stitch, 1/2 in. light brown kilim, 11-19 warp cords twisted and knotted

Lower - incomplete

Colors: Ivory, yellow, rose, rust red, light blue, green, black
