A Classical East Persian Carpet of the so-called Indo-Isphahan Type.1

Khorasan (Persia), early 17th century. Losses to pile, bound sides and ends. 8 ft. by 5 ft. 5 in. (244 by 165 cm)

Warp; Cotton, Z3S, alternate warp strongly depressed, natural white.

Weft: Cotton, Z3S 3 shoots, ivory.

Pile: Wool, asymmetrical knot open to the left.

Density: 14 -15h and 12 - 13v.

Sides: Not original.

Ends: Not original.

Colors: Peacock blue, indigo, pale to deep raspberry, ochre, mandarin, teal, cypress, cardamom, Wedgwood blue, persimmon, pecan, spruce, pistachio, paprika, balsam green, black, walnut, carnelian, sage.
