From: Kevin Sudeith

Hello,

I recently vacuumed up a penny and destroyed my vacuum. I am wondering if it is okay to shake a rug from the fire escape.

I have found very much information on your site, and am grateful to you.

Sincerely yours,

Kevin Sudeith

Hello Kevin,

If your rug is strong enough and the neighbors do not mind I see no problem in shaking out a rug. I believe it was Myers who founded the Textile Museum in Washington DC who shook his very first rug over a balcony. As the story goes he was in college and bought an inexpensive used rug that was so dry rotted that when he shook it out it fell to pieces and went sailing away. So shake carefully.

Glad you like the site. I have a lot of fun with it.

Best wishes,

Barry
