Photo Guidelines For Oriental Rugs

Tufenkian Carpets Area Rug Sale.

Hello ,

Guidelines for sending Photos

I realize that for many of you sending pictures of rugs is a new challenge so here are a few suggestions that should be of help to both of us.

Lighting can make or break a picture. Some photos are so dark that I have trouble seeing the rug. Ideally take the picture outside with the sun at your back if that is not possible just try to get a picture where the color is accurate and it is clear enough to see the detail.

The back, selvage (side wrapping) and end are important clues to attribution. Flip over a corner and shoot the back side and ends in one photo and lay a quarter on the carpet for scale. If the photo is close and clear enough to read the date on the quarter then I can see the knots. If you can not get a clear picture of the whole front of the rug get at least one area of border and as much of the field as possible.

Sending me a link to a picture in your web space works great. Scanning a picture saving it as a jpg file and attaching it to email is OK. If you need an address to send ground mail to let me know. Sending me actual photos is least desireable and be aware I will probably not send them back. I invareablely lose photos sent to me.

Best wishes,
Barry
